Duties and Drawbacks : Importing and exporting tips

You may be eligible for duty drawback if you:

  • Manufacture in Canada for export to other countries and use imported parts or raw materials
  • Import dutiable goods to Canada for export resale (as is or same condition)
  • With over 16,000 tariff classification numbers, an in-depth knowledge of the tariff rules is imperative. HMT's Customs Specialists will review your imports to determine if a more appropriate classification on duty rates should be applied.
  • Under certain tariff regulations, remissions may be applicable on the products you import into Canada.
  • HMT provides advice on the Free Trade Agreement, Certificates of Origin, understanding origin criteria regulations, and more.
  • Do not pay any more duty than is necessary. Let HMT help you recover your overpayments and learn how to prevent them.
